Mandatum Life Insurance Company Limited (Mandatum Life) committed to the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance and published a Sustainable Insurance Policy.
According to Mandatum’s sustainability strategy, the purpose of its insurance activities is to promote the well-being of its customers through prospering and preparing for the future. Mandatum Life committed to the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) in December 2023, and, in order to further develop the sustainability of its insurance business, compiled a Sustainable Insurance Policy based on the Principles.
The PSI offers a global framework in which environmental, social and governance issues are embedded in the activities of insurance companies.

Through committing to the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance, we integrated sustainability even further into the everyday life at Mandatum”, says Mandatum’s CEO Petri Niemisvirta.
Sustainable insurance at Mandatum includes both the positive societal impacts of the insurance offering as well as the way in which clients and their needs are taken into account in each step of the insurance value chain. Equal treatment, transparent and easily available information, knowledgeable and proactive customer service, risk management and the responsible management of assets behind unit-linked insurance products are all components of the sustainable insurance approach. In addition, Mandatum strives to promote sustainable insurance and related awareness in its communications and stakeholder cooperation.
To demonstrate its commitment to openness and transparency, Mandatum assesses, measures and monitors its progress in implementing the PSI. The implementation of the principles in the insurance business will be reported on starting in 2024.
