Mandatum Life has been selected as the best workplace in Finland for the second year in a row in the large organisations category of the Great Place to Work Institute’s survey. The company has made it onto the list of Finland’s best workplaces for eleven consecutive years.
At the Great Place to Work event held on 28 April 2021, Mandatum Life was declared Finland’s best place to work in the large organisations category. The company also won the title in 2020. Mandatum Life has made it onto the Great Place to Work Institute’s Best Workplace list for eleven years in a row now, and last year was also ranked as the tenth best place to work in Europe.
“Mandatum Life forges ahead with its uncompromising and fine corporate culture efforts and has been declared the Best Workplace in Finland for the second time in the large organisations category. According to the company’s employees, Mandatum Life’s corporate culture is uniquely equal, caring and friendly. In Mandatum Life’s most recent survey, the Great Place to Work statement ‘Taking everything into account, this is a great place to work’ received a score of 95%, meaning 95% of the employees agree with the statement. The systematic way that people have been taken into account during the exceptional period has also been heart-warming; Mandatum Life truly lives by the motto ‘People first’,” says Katriina Grönqvist, CEO of Great Place to Work Finland.
Mandatum Life’s CEO, Petri Niemisvirta, agrees:
“I’m really proud of our excellent results. In the midst of a crisis, we have demonstrated that we live up to our words and the company’s values, and that shows in the Great Place to Work survey. Mandatum Life’s corporate culture is based on a strong sense of community and mutual support, which I believe are important factors behind our high employee satisfaction, also during the exceptional year.
“A thriving work community is also outwardly visible. We have been able to provide excellent service to our customers in an uncertain situation, and our customer satisfaction was at a record-high level all of last year. Our personnel deserve thanks for that,” says Niemisvirta.
Every year, some 150 organisations take part in the Great Place to Work survey. The survey is based on the Great Place to Work’s definition of a great workplace: a great workplace is about the level of trust that employees experience in their leaders, the level of pride they have in their jobs, and the extent to which they enjoy their colleagues.
The ranking in the survey is based on an employee satisfaction survey and an analysis of the workplace culture carried out by the Great Place to Work Institute’s experts. This year’s employee survey consisted of 61 statements. They are divided into five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie. The analysis of the workplace culture focusses on the organisation’s HR practices and looks into how well they support the building of an employee-driven HR culture.
When examining the total scores in the different areas, Mandatum Life’s results are again excellent, even compared to last year’s record results. The results indicate that the company has succeeded in creating an excellent workplace – as much as 93% (91) of our employees would recommend Mandatum Life as an employer. Our trust index, measuring employees’ overall satisfaction, was again the best in our company’s history: 91% (86).
