More than USD 400 million invested in private equity fund management companies

12.12.2019

Demand for alternative investments continues to grow. A private equity fund has raised more than USD 400 million in assets to be managed through Mandatum Life.

The investment was made in a private equity fund that invests in the private equity fund management companies of the American global investor Dyal Capital Partners. The fund raised close to USD 9 billion in committed capital. The investment was appealing, as it provides access to the private equity industry’s good profitability and the investment operations of private equity funds.

“Private equity fund management is a highly predictable business that is based on long-term contracts, which is well-suited to Mandatum Life’s investment style”, says Jussi Tanninen, Director, Alternatives, Mandatum Life.

“This is probably one of the biggest investments ever made in private equity funds through a Finnish player. We also received considerable investments from outside Finland, so we are very pleased,” states Lauri Vaittinen, Mandatum Life’s Senior Vice President of Investment Solutions.

Demand for alternative investment products has grown strongly in recent years, and particularly in private debt investment (i.e. alternative fixed income investment), Mandatum Life is the institutional wealth management leader in Finland. The Mandatum Life Private Debt III investment basket was recently closed, after raising EUR 210 million in subscription undertakings.
